WAYS OF DOING THINGS HAVE HAD TO CHANGE
BUT FINDING THE RIGHT HOME FOR EACH AND EVERY GREYHOUND IN OUR CARE HAS ALWAYS BEEN THE PRIORITY
WE CAN'T TELL YOU ABOUT EVERY HOMING
BUT HERE IS JUST SOME OF THE RECENT FEEDBACK WE HAVE HAD
(With thanks to all who have sent their messages!)
We adopted Storm 1 week ago and he's settling in well. Today he picked out a new toy to celebrate, this is him bringing it home from the pet shop.
On Friday we adopted this big fella from Greyhound Trust West Yorkshire, thanks to both Kath’s for your help and advice.
His racing name is ‘Barnside Rio’ which we’ve shortened to ‘Barney’. He is settling in well with our family
We adopted Roy (was Al) 4 weeks ago. Thanks to both Kath's for your advice and help. He is an absolute dream and we can't imagine life without him! Thanks so much
Tiger has been with us just 3 weeks now, he has settled in really well. But loves a car journey the most!
Just over 4 weeks since Jasper came to live with us. He is everything Kath said he would be. Afraid of nothing, loves his cuddles and not scared to ask for them or let you know when he wants them. Totally house trained and the perfect gentleman when guests visit. We need to work on his prey drive, but that's work in progress. Thanks to both Kath's for their help and advice- he's just the perfect hound.
JASPER UPDATE ...
NEIL SAYS -
You may be thinking of rehoming a Greyhound or you may already have one. We got Jasper just two months ago. Firstly, the support you get from GTWY is first class. Once you are matched, the support doesn't stop there. Secondly, drop in days, kennel support, advice from owners it doesn't stop- you are never alone on your Greyhound journey. Jasper is our first Greyhound- don't get me wrong- it's a challenge- a journey- but you won't regret it. You will join a fantastic family. So here is our boy.
ANOTHER MESSAGE FROM MATTHEW
'Homing Rocket was the best thing we've ever done!'
Rebecca messaged to say ...
George has settled in really well, and loves his new home. He really likes walking in the woods, kicking around leaves and going zoomies around the garden like mad thing. He's a friend to everyone, and everyone that has met him has loved him right away. He loves his food, and we've had a ball trying a bunch of different food he's never had before (dog safe) he loves a little bit of cheese and apple, and has fish twice a week which he goes mad for.'
Nearly 4 weeks and Neville is firmly settled into the family along with his best bud, Cecil the caterpillar!
This is Jude and we adopted him a little over a month ago. He is fabulous in every way. It took him a little while to get use to the stairs but now he has, his favourite place is mum and dad's bed!
Here is Thor - Given his forever home with us on Monday. He is adorable and such a friendly, gentle boy. We are thrilled with him.

'She’s settled in so well and is absolutely perfect for us. She loves her walks, zoomies in the garden, and settles really well when left, just a little bit of whimpering then off for a snooze. She was housetrained within 48 hours. She’s gentle and quiet with our son who adores her. She’s learnt to play with her toys really quickly
Thank you so much for matching her with us, she’s such a good fit for our family'
Karla has quickly made herself right at home - not a single accident in the house and walking beautifully on her lead. She is friendly with everyone she meets and enjoys a good playtime. She will happily walk for miles but will also be really patient when expected to stand around for a bit of bird watching! We are lucky to have such a lovely girl.

'We thought we would give you an update on how Shadow (Bob) is getting on. We are all very delighted he has settled in very well and is already enjoying playing with his toys. Thanks for all the hard work of you and your team for these beautiful dogs'.
A week and a half since we brought Casper home, he has settled in so nicely and has been the missing piece to our family!! Want to say a massive thank you to the team at WYGT for matching us with this handsome chap, can’t even remember what life was like before Casper!
It's two weeks tomorrow we took the lovely Rocket home with us. He's settled into our family so well. Nothing has fazed him at all. He's a big gentle soul and we love him so much. Thank you to the team for matching us with him. We couldn't imagine life without him.
FROM AMANDA -
Billie has settled in really well. We’ve done lots of walking, playing (she loves a ball) and trips to the beach and lakes and she seems to love it all. She’s such a gentle soul, so many people stop and talk to us about her. It takes ages to do a walk what with her sniffing hobby and all the chats. She’s an absolute joy!
She really has settled in so well and we love her to bits. So we just wanted to say thank you for introducing us.
'We made the best decision of our lives 6 weeks ago and adopted Joe'.
Just a little update on how our little girl is settling in. We're approaching four weeks since we collected Stacey. At the end of week two she started to show us her character, she's a lovely affectionate little lady who has fully made herself at home. Thank you so much to the whole team at the Trust for matching us, she's the perfect fit.
MAX AND MINI
We would just like to thank the entire team at the Greyhound Trust for everything they do to help give these beautiful dogs a chance at a happy life.
My partner and I adopted Mini four months ago now and within weeks we knew we just had to bring home another. Mini and Max have settled into our lives so amazingly and have brought us both so much joy. We couldn't imagine our family without them. They've taken to each other so well and when they're not up to complete mischief, they are just conked out on the sofa snoozing the day away.
'Two weeks since Stan came home with us (formerly Snipe). As you can see, he’s settling in nicely!'
AN EARLY DAYS REPORT FROM KATE -
We are on day 3 and she has settled right in with us. She's met all the other 3 dogs in our extended family and behaved impeccably with them all. So far so good. And she's even found her favourite cuddly already.
Many thanks to the Greyhound Trust West Yorkshire.
FROM LEAH -
Our boy Goose (formerly Sooty)! Not even been a week and already wouldn’t be without him Thank you Greyhound Trust West Yorkshire
'One month with this gentle soul, the grey previously known as Rebel. Theo, as he's now known, has become a happy city slicker, and enjoys breaking up his rightfully indulgent naps with adventures by the canals and asking for head rubs from everyone he meets. Thank you to Kath for taking the time to talk me through my questions and concerns, and for matching us! He’s perfect.'
'We have had Buster 4 weeks now but it feels like so much longer, he settled right in straight away and eventually became friends with the couch.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Kath and the team for matching us with Buster, he is perfect'.
FROM WENDY AND FAMILY
Thank you for our beautiful boy, our gentle giant, Circus Ted. He has settled in amazingly over the past 4 weeks and loves his walks with his little sister and pals Belle (Whip), Copper (Beagle) and little Penny (Tiny Dachs). He is so good with his 'hooman' brothers and sisters too. We all adore him. Thank you again. He's a star!
EVE SENT US THIS -

DENISE SAYS -
Just wanted to share a photo of the beautiful Rihanna who came to live with us on Friday. Settling in nicely and learning all about her new surroundings. She has enjoyed meeting new people and learning how to play with her toys.
Stairs, and getting in and out of the car were a challenge at first but she's mastered both a treat now.
We absolutely love her'
FROM JAN -
I adopted Seth on Sunday and what a fab lad he is No issues in the house, walks nicely on the lead, easily corrected when an idiot woman let her 4 dogs run round him. Loves cuddles and life revolves around sofas and food Thank you Greyhound Trust West Yorkshire for letting this lad into my life.
TED AND JEAN SENT AN EMAIL -
'It’s been 5 months since Keano joined us so we are long overdue sending an update. We can’t remember life without Keano and he’s really settled and been on lots of trips away in the motorhome.
Here’s a snap of him watching the world go by in a campsite in Kendal'.
BETTY AND WILMA
FROM L J SAM
'It’s safe to say, they’ve settled extremely well! Betty & Wilma were made for retirement clearly.
We’re now coming up to 3 months of having these girls and they’ve been so amazing and the best girls we could have asked for. Their favourite position is laying down sleeping but they’re so happy to go walking for miles with us too'.
I just wanted to let you know how happy we are with him and how well he’s doing. He was already a handsome boy, but all this thick fur dropped out in the space of about 4 weeks .....
Now he’s looking amazing and we love him so much. Still timid with strangers and other dogs, but there’s not a nasty bone in his body - so gentle - and perfect for my mum!
A MESSAGE FROM PETE

FROM PETE -
I adopted "Bunny" yesterday...she sort of adopted me , She is now called "Mindy" by the way (yes, like Mork and Mindy).
She is so beautiful and gentle and everyone that has seen her so far have fallen in love with her as much as I have. She is my "shadow" at the moment but has already made herself at home. She is very waggy tailed all the time and already has her favourite 2 beds (1 for the day) and one near the radiator for the night....she has 2 others as well .
I adore her, and can't thank you enough for giving me the opportunity to let her share my life with me.
FROM RACHAEL -
